MDS opened its doors in December of 2011, with an initial focus on Imaging services. After 4 years, it has grown into a full-service Medical Clinic, and Dr. Michael Laux is now practicing exclusively at MDS.
Dr. Laux (aka Dr. Mike) is welcoming all former and new patients to his practice.
Dr. Laux provides primary care to patients of all ages, stressing the importance of preventive medicine and nutrition. Some of the common reasons patients seek care are: upper respiratory tract infections, minor trauma and wound care, acute and chronic disease management, annual physicals, nutritional counseling and health optimization. All this combined with the convenience of on-site diagnostics available at MDS using top of the line equipment.
MDS also partners with several Specialists and now offers an expanded portfolio of outpatient services. Some examples include Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, Cystoscopy, Ultrasound guided biopsies (Thyroid, Breast, Prostate) And Echocardiograms.
Some seasonal health considerations: It’s cold and flu season once again. As most of us know, these illnesses are produced by the dissemination of specific germs from person to person. There are many ways we can help protect ourselves from acquiring these illnesses such as eating a balanced and healthy diet which promotes a strong immune system. Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Zinc can give us a much needed extra boost this time of year. Steer away from sick people and enclosed public events. Wash your hands frequently and keep from touching your face or rubbing your eyes as you are likely to put the culprit germs in closer proximity to your airways. Dr. Laux strongly recommends the Flu (influenza) vaccine for children 6 months to 5 years of age, adults with chronic illnesses such as Diabetes or COPD, and those of you 65 and older.
One last thing, please be considerate! If you’re not well or feel like you’re coming down with something, please stay home and get some rest. Too many times we run into sick people at get-togethers or public events — this is the main cause of dissemination of illness!
So, if you require anything from a routine physical, second opinion, grief counseling or maybe you have a nagging cold that won’t go away, you hurt your knee playing pickleball, or the husband fell off the ladder hanging Christmas lights, then visit Dr. Laux at MDS and get the attention and treatment that you need and deserve.
