San Carlos Weather Forecast
Summer heat continues across San Carlos this week, with abundant sunshine, humid conditions, and only a slight chance of isolated showers. Daytime temperatures will remain hot, making early mornings and evenings the most comfortable times for outdoor activities.
Daytime highs are expected to range from 34 – 38°C (94 – 100°F), while overnight lows will stay between 27 – 29°C (80 – 84°F). Rain chances remain generally low, with only isolated showers possible and no widespread rainfall expected.
Humidity will remain elevated, especially overnight and during the early morning hours, creating muggy conditions. Afternoon relative humidity will generally drop before increasing again after sunset.
Winds will generally blow from the south to southwest at 10 – 20 km/h (6 – 12 mph) through Saturday. By Sunday and Monday, expect stronger afternoon breezes of 20 – 30 km/h (12 – 19 mph) with occasional higher gusts, creating choppier conditions on the water before easing again on Tuesday.
For boaters and beachgoers, sea conditions should be favorable through most of the week, with wave heights generally around 0.3 – 0.8 meters (1 – 3 feet). On Sunday and Monday, increasing winds are expected to build seas to approximately 0.6 – 1.2 meters (2 – 4 feet) in exposed areas, so small crafts should use additional caution, particularly during the afternoon.
As of this forecast period, no tropical cyclone poses an immediate threat to the Sonora coast from the Eastern North Pacific, but residents and mariners should continue monitoring official forecasts as the hurricane season progresses.

FIFA World Cup, June 11 to July 19
The 2026 FIFA World Cup continues across United States, Mexico, and Canada, and after two group-stage matches each, all three host nations are firmly in the spotlight as the tournament builds momentum. Mexico: Good Start in Front of Passionate Home Support Mexico has been one of the early success stories of the tournament. “El Tri” opened with a composed 2 – 0 win over South Africa, then followed it up with a narrow but controlled 1 – 0 victory over South Korea. Two matches, two wins, and zero goals conceded have put Mexico in an excellent position with 6 points. Mexico faces Czechia next. A positive result there would effectively secure top spot in the group and momentum heading into the knockout rounds. United States: Strong, Confident, and Clinical The United States has also delivered a perfect start. They began with a convincing 4 – 1 win over Paraguay and followed it with a solid 2 – 0 victory against Australia. With 6 points from 2 matches and an increasingly fluid attack, the U.S. has looked one of the most balanced teams among the hosts so far. The team’s depth and pace have been key strengths, and confidence is building with each performance. A final group-stage clash against Türkiye will determine whether the U.S. finishes top of the group or settles for second, but qualification is already within reach. Canada: Unbeaten and Emerging as a Surprise Package Canada has quietly put together one of the more interesting starts among the hosts. They opened with a 1 – 1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina, then produced a standout 6 – 0 win over Qatar in their second match. With 4 points from 2 games and a significant goal difference boost from their second performance, Canada is now in a strong position to advance. The attacking explosion against Qatar, combined with earlier resilience, has shifted expectations upward quickly. Canada now prepares for a key match against Switzerland. A positive result would all but confirm progression to the knockout stage |

Community Beach Clean Up, June 28
With the goal of protecting the environment and cleaning the local beaches, groups, associations & restaurants will join together for the clean up. Meet at Piedras Pintas in San Carlos at 6:30am. San Carlos Beerfest, July 4
Tickets are now on sale for 5th Annual San Carlos Beerfest, taking place on Saturday, July 4.
On this day, dozens of craft beers will be available to sample from 4:00pm to 1:00am at Marinaterra’s Club Duo.
There will be live music with Utopia, la Vieja Escuela and SBK Silencio de Blanka all performing.
Also enjoy food for sale and Bacanora tasting stands.
Tickets cost 450 pesos in advance (until July 1) and can be purchased at Hotel Marinaterra and online here. The price at the door will be 500 pesos.

Fishing & Diving Reports
Fishing Report
It’s still nice on the water in San Carlos. There are definitely days that you should choose not to be on the water due to wind. The calm days are still comfortable and we haven’t had to hit the dock running. I think there are still a couple weeks before we really start to sweat. The main sweating has been metaphorical in our frustration about the lack of fish.
There are still some Dorado out there. I’ll be hoping for a full moon bite! The fish could still be full and running deeper, but I’m beginning to think that the squid ‘sucked’ them away. I have seen some hints of cooler water trying to make its way back to this side. I don’t think that I’ve ever claimed certainty in understanding the ocean, and I’d be weary of believing those who do. The ocean is completely unpredictable here and full of surprises.
Billfish catches were minimal this last week. I didn’t hear of any Blues caught. The minimal strikes and Sailfish catches that we had makes me believe that they were full. There still seems to be no sargasso out there. A dead dolphin held some fish. We came across some buoys and rope that held some lackluster Dorado that seemed to be pushed away by all of the baby sharks. The bottom fishing seemed pretty weak. The corvina bite was decent when the waves were down. Supposedly a good school of rooster fish were along the inclusive beach. We had one day saved by a 9 pound Sierra at the harbor entrance. Some of the limited Dorado catches for decent sized fish weren’t far out. The tuna were seen, but not caught. Keep trying and keep the faith!

Diving Report
Divers from dive shops in Phoenix and Flagstaff, Arizona spent last weekend and the beginning of this week diving at Isla San Pedro Nolasco, locally at sites around San Carlos and the wrecks making up the artificial reefs with El Mar Diving Center. Water temperatures are in the 80’s at most all of the sites. Visibility at the island was very good, locally not quite as good. And, visibility at the wrecks was also good.
At Isla San Pedro Nolasco, divers reported sightings of a green sea turtle, a Pacific seahorse, and very curious sea lions. There is always a nice variety of fish — King angels, 3-banded butterfly fish, and Balloon pufferfish. The large reddish Cushion stars carpet the sandy areas in large numbers. During one of the surface intervals, a Hammerhead shark swam by on the surface. And, on the way back to San Carlos a young Whale shark was seen cruising near the surface. Both very special sights!
The wrecks continue to draw a large variety of schools of fish. With closer investigation of the growth growing on the surfaces, different kinds of nudibranchs, crabs, and blennies can be found. Bay blennies (pictured left) like to hide in tubes along the railings. Their cirri stick up out of their head and looks like the growth all around them giving them good camouflage. The nudibranch, Felimida norrisi (pictured right) with a common name of Norris’ chromodorid, is often out looking for a meal of sponges. Along with its bright coloration, it has a bad tasting chemical that warns predators to stay away.
Lots of great diving and snorkeling are ahead all summer long. Book a trip to local dive sites, the beautiful San Pedro Nolasco, or the new artificial reefs just outside the San Carlos Marina to see what’s underwater.

SBPA Bookstore closing
Unfortunately, the SBPA Bookstore is closing and their last day will be Sunday, July 12.
They do not yet have another location that is willing to donate space and their current location in the yacht club building will be rented out to another business. They have been incredibly generous to us giving us the space rent free for the last few years.
Since they do not have a new location, they have to sell off and donate as many books as possible. They are hoping to sell as many as possible to support the spay and neuter clinics.

San Carlos offers outstanding sport fishing year-round and our Team Margarita charter boats can adapt to whatever fishing style you prefer. We practice “catch and release” on all billfish, but other varieties can be excellent food for the table. Light tackle or fly-fishing enthusiast? We can set you up!
The boat No Le Hace is a comfortable, 53 foot yacht is air-conditioned and has a restroom. It leaves from the Iguana Dock (right in front of Marvida Taproom & Kitchen) at Marina San Carlos.

Castaway Kids Thrift Store: The Castaway Kids Thrift Store is open Thursdays and Saturdays from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Our Student Coordinator, Kristian Vizcaino, is also in the office at the Castaway Kids Education and Donation Center every Wednesday and Thursday between 9:00am and 3:00pm.
