The 11th annual Marinaterra Dorado Derby will take place from June 13-14, 2025.
The registration fee is 4,000 pesos. Proceeds from this tournament will be donated to local charities.

Goal: Catch the largest male Dorado.

Friday June 13
Check-in from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Terra Salon at Marinaterra Hotel & Spa.
Saturday June 14
7:00 a.m., all participating boats must gather around the official tournament boat at the exit / entrance to San Carlos Bahia.
3:00 pm to 5:00 pm: Fish reception and weigh-in
7:00 pm Awards ceremony and closing dinner at Marinaterra Hotel & Spa facilities
2024 Dorado Derby Results
170 fishermen participated in 64 boats. The first 5 winners were:
- First: Gustavo del Río Yépiz, who caught a 14.35 kilogram dorado from the boat Dakota.
- Second: Richard Howell, with a 14.10 kilogram dorado, on the boat Uno Más.
- Third: Carlos Alejandro Navarro caught a 13.10 kilo dorado from the Cat Can Do boat.
- Forth: Gilberto Serrano in Scooby Doo caught a 12.90 kilo dorado.
- Fifth: Jorge R. González, with a 12 kilos, 10 grams dorado from Bottom Fisher Too.
2023 Dorado Derby Results
175 participants on 63 boats competed in this year’s Dorado Derby.
Eduardo González Gaxiola, on “One and Only”, brought in an 18.8 kilos dorado and took home first place. He won 50,000 pesos, an outboard motor, and the championship trophy. The fish also won him the “Jack Pot”, which was more than 78 thousand pesos.
Daniel Grajeda, in “Bay Girl”, brought in a 16.6 kg dorado and took second place.
Third place went to Luis Miguel Padilla, on “Motrixxx”, whose fish was 16.1 kilos.
Fourth place went to Brad Cowgill with his 15.5 kg fish, on “Most Laughs”.
Fifth place was Alberto Oceguera, with his 15.4 kg dorado, captured in his boat “Maza Life”.
Proceeds from the event were donated to the Red Cross.
