San Carlos Weather Forecast

Expect a classic early summer pattern across San Carlos with warm to hot afternoons, mild overnight temperatures, generally light to moderate breezes, and only isolated chances for precipitation. While sunshine will dominate most days, increasing moisture may lead to a few afternoon cloud buildups and the possibility of brief showers.

Temperature: The daytime highs will be 33 – 35°C (91 – 95°F), and the nighttime lows will be 27 – 29°C (81 – 84°F).

Humidity: Morning humidity is expected to range from 65 – 80%, decreasing to approximately 40 – 55% during the warmest part of the afternoon before increasing again overnight.

Winds: Predominantly from the south to southwest at 10 – 25 km/h (6 – 16 mph), with locally higher afternoon gusts along the coastline.

Sea Conditions: Waters in the San Carlos and Guaymas area should remain relatively favorable for boating, with wave heights generally between 0.3 and 1.0 meters (1 – 3 feet). Afternoon sea breezes may create choppier conditions, especially in open water.

Rain Outlook: Most locations are expected to remain dry, although isolated showers or thunderstorms cannot be ruled out later in the week. Any rainfall that develops is expected to be brief and localized.

Eastern North Pacific Tropical Outlook: According to the National Hurricane Center, there are currently no tropical cyclones posing a direct threat to northwestern Mexico or the Sonora coast. Residents and mariners should continue routine monitoring throughout hurricane season, but the chance of a tropical system affecting the San Carlos area in the immediate forecast period remains low.

FIFA World Cup, June 11 to July 19

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is officially underway, and the opening days have delivered exactly what soccer fans hoped for: packed stadiums, colorful celebrations, and plenty of excitement across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

In a first for the tournament, each host nation staged its own opening ceremony, showcasing local music, culture, and traditions before welcoming the world to the biggest FIFA World Cup ever. The celebrations highlighted the unique character of all three countries while underscoring the shared spirit of this historic event.

Mexico Gets Off to a Winning Start

Mexico opened the tournament in front of an electric home crowd in Mexico City and rewarded its fans with a 2 – 0 victory over South Africa. The win gave “El Tri” an early boost in Group A and reinforced the team’s reputation for rising to the occasion on home soil.

Next up for Mexico is a match against South Korea on June 18, followed by its final group-stage game against Czech Republic. A strong performance in those contests could see Mexico comfortably advance to the knockout rounds.

United States Impresses in Opener

The U.S. Men’s National Team made an emphatic statement in Los Angeles, defeating Paraguay 4 – 1 in its opening match. The convincing victory energized home supporters and showcased the attacking talent that many believe could carry the US deep into the tournament.

The United States now turns its attention to Australia on June 19 before closing group play against Turkey. Another positive result would put the US in an excellent position to move on to the Round of 32.

Canada Earns a Valuable Point

Playing before an enthusiastic home crowd in Toronto, Canada battled Bosnia and Herzegovina to a draw in its World Cup opener. While not the victory fans hoped for, securing a point keeps Canada well positioned in Group B as it continues its campaign.

Canada’s next challenge comes against Qatar in Vancouver on June 18 before wrapping up the group stage against Switzerland. With several points still up for grabs, advancement remains firmly within reach.

With the group stage just beginning, there is still plenty of soccer ahead. Whether you’re cheering for the United States, Mexico, Canada, or another favorite nation, the 2026 FIFA World Cup is already proving to be a memorable celebration of the world’s game.

Fishing Reports

Fishing Report

The fishing seems to be following the moon phases. Water temps are creeping up to 85 F at times, on the verge of being warm. Sailfish continue to save the day, with very few marlin biting. I did see one decent Blue or Black released. Dorado catches seemed to return over the weekend on the New Moon. If it is a lunar bite, we should see a return of good fishing this weekend.

We still are racking up great catches of 20 – 30 pound Dorado. A 41 pound and 37 pound Dorado topped the tournament catches. A few small tuna were caught over the weekend. A dead turtle attracted a good number of Dorado on Saturday that were quickly ‘schooled’ into having complete lockjaw.

The area outside the Reef seemed to have a concentration of fish. I think that they are getting lots of squid down deep. I am hoping that they stick around.

The shorelines held bait and corvina through the weekend, but are now stirred up by the waves and consistent south wind. It is going to reach an uncomfortable level mid-week, but the bite has been late when it usually calms down. It is keeping it nice on the water!

Unfortunately, the SBPA Bookstore is closing and their last day will be Sunday, July 12.

They do not yet have another location that is willing to donate space and their current location in the yacht club building will be rented out to another business. They have been incredibly generous to us giving us the space rent free for the last few years.

Since they do not have a new location, they have to sell off and donate as many books as possible. They are hoping to sell as many as possible to support the spay and neuter clinics.

Get your summer reading at these reasonable prices:
* All hardcover – 10 pesos
* All Softcover –  5 pesos
* All children’s books, hard or soft, any size – 5 pesos
* Book bags are 50 pesos; bag refills are 25 pesos.

There are a large number of books in crates that are free in front of the store available any time for anyone to take and we will continue the next few weeks to fill those crates.

100% of used book sales go to support the SBPA spay and neuter clinics.

Tortuga’s Restaurant & Bar

In the heart of San Carlos – where the Sea of Cortez paints some of the most breathtaking sunsets in Mexico and every day feels like a getaway – you’ll find a place that has become part of the very essence of this destination: Tortuga’s Restaurant & Bistro.

More than just a restaurant, Tortuga’s is where great food, unforgettable moments, and genuine hospitality come together to create an experience guests remember long after the last drink is poured.

For over a decade, we have perfected every detail to offer a dining experience worthy of San Carlos itself: warm, authentic, and unforgettable. From our breakfasts featuring freshly baked artisan bread, rich coffee, and our famous Eggs Benedict, to evenings filled with International Bistro cuisine, premium steaks, fresh catch of the day, handcrafted pasta made in-house, and carefully crafted cocktails.

Every dish tells a story of fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and a true passion for great cuisine. Our Rib Eye, Prime Rib, Peppercorn Filet Mignon, Chili-Crusted Tuna, Catch of the Day, and our now-famous homemade pasta are just a few of the specialties that have made Tortuga’s a favorite among both locals and visitors.

And because every exceptional meal deserves an exceptional setting, we invite you to enjoy what many call the best terrace in San Carlos – featuring live music every day, a relaxed atmosphere, and that unmistakable feeling of freedom that only life by the sea can offer.

Whether you’re joining us for a peaceful breakfast, a special lunch, a romantic dinner, cocktails at sunset, or a private celebration, Tortuga’s is always a place where you’ll find memorable flavors, warm service, and an experience worth returning for.
