December 12 is the day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, Mexico’s patron saint. The Dia de la Virgen de Guadalupe became an national holiday in 1859. It is an official national holiday, and is observed with pilgrimages, special masses, fiestas and feasts.
June 1 is Dia de la Marina (Mexican Navy Day). Mexican Navy Day is celebrated in seaports, including Guaymas, where reenactments of a naval battle take place.
Kick off the Christmas season this Friday, December 6 at 4:30pm. Guaymas schools and businesses will be participating in the annual Christmas Parade.
On Monday, February 23; Tuesday, February 24; and Wednesday, February 25, there will be a fine display of Huichol bead work at Solimar’s office from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
